If Hipsters Liked Baseball:
Yeah, Cliff Lee was okay and all tonight. If you’re into that kind of thing. But like, he’s so mainstream now, you know? Like, what a sellout. He doesn’t walk anyone and it’s infuriating. It’s just so far away from the real, gritty Cliff Lee that released all those awesome BB-sides when he was sent back to Kingston, Akron and Buffalo in 2007.
Most people don’t think about that work anymore, but it was important work. Groundbreaking stuff.  Sure, let’s get all excited by the middle of the road Cliff Lee  who shut down the Yankees for 8 innings, while allowing only two hits and striking out thirteen. And becoming the first pitcher to ever have three double-digit strikeout games in one postseason, but Cliff Lee didn’t use to care about the accolades. He used to care about the people.
The Rangers took a 2-1 series lead thanks to Corporate Baseball’s favorite son, but quantifying baseball removes all the joy from it.
